PNC Park - Pittsburgh PA

PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa is one of the nicest places to watch a Major League Baseball game.  Compared to the older Three Rivers Stadium, this is really how baseball was meant to be watched.

I remember the first time I entered the seating areas at PNC Park.  I was amazed how small everything seemed.  It reminded me of watching a high school baseball game.  Fans are closer to the field.  Everything seems so wide open because you are not sitting in a big bowl like Three Rivers Stadium.  The natural grass adds more to the "real" baseball field atmosphere.  Looking out over the outfield, you have no large walls or obstructions blocking the view of the Pittsburgh skyline.  You really feel like you're watching a baseball game right in the middle of the city.

It is a little disappointing that the Pittsburgh Pirates have really not had a winning season since the early 90's...that's a long time.  Plus, Pittsburgh is a football town.  You'll find more people at High School football games than some Pirate games.  This town lives and dies based on "The Black and Gold", or those Pittsburgh Steelers.  So the Pirates have always taken a back seat to the Steelers.  Maybe someday things will change.

But one thing is for sure...the Pirates play in one on the nicest ballparks in the country.  This will never change.  And because of this, they do draw crowds, even people that really aren't interested in baseball.  PNC Park is just a cool play to be, a cool place to hang out and a really good place that average families can spend a night together at still relatively low cost compared to other stadiums and ballparks in the country.
